“Where there is no guidance, a people falls, but in an abundance of counselors there is safety.” — Proverbs 11:14
Most of us learn to rely on ourselves.
Shifts get busy, decisions come fast, and asking for help isn’t always easy — especially when people expect you to have answers.
But living that way gets heavy.
In the kitchen, great food never comes together without structure, basic cooking rules, and experienced input. A cook who ignores those usually ends up with less than good.
Life works the same way.
When we try to lead, decide, or live in isolation, we miss ingredients God intended us to use — wise counsel, accountability, and His perspective.
God reminds us that safety and success are found in a blend of wise voices, not stubborn independence. I regularly ask my sous chef and even members of the crew for their input.
Strength isn’t going it alone — it’s being humble enough to listen.
Surround yourself with men who know the Word, live it out, and aren’t afraid to speak truth. That kind of counsel keeps your life balanced and on track.
Listen to that first voice — the Lord’s — but in some situations also seek a multitude of counsel, then make your decision.
Prayer
Lord, teach me to seek Your wisdom and value godly counsel. Help me walk humbly, listen carefully, and make decisions that honor You. Amen.
Try This Today:
Ask someone you trust for input before making a decision today — even a small one. Notice what it feels like not carrying everything alone.
Standing with you,
around the table,
Chef Bob
